We lived in Langkawi for a year as expats and tried everything from luxury resort dining to small roadside stalls. This guide is basically everything we learned about where to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the island.

Langkawi is more than beaches and UNESCO Geoforest parks. It’s an island where you can experience duty free shopping, simple Malaysian lifestyle and vibrant Malaysian flavors, and heart-warming surprises.
The island feels relaxed and not crowded. You’ll see many open-air roadside restaurants with just a roof overhead, serving fresh and affordable seafood. Malaysian food here is flavourful and aromatic. It’s influenced by Malay, Chinese, and Indian traditions, with touches of Borneo flavors in some dishes.
As expats, we loved discovering both famous and hidden food spots. Eating our way around Langkawi became one of our best memories.
Before we get into the restaurants, if you’re planning your trip, check out “16 Best Things to Do in Langkawi, Malaysia” for ideas beyond food, from mangrove tours to cable car rides and beach time.
Now, let’s get into this food guide and the 16 best places to eat in Langkawi.
Pantai Cenang Area
Cenang Street Food Restaurants
As you arrive in Pantai Cenang, a street full of souvenir shops welcomes you and between those shops you will find some lovely local restaurants serving dinner. As the sky lights up with the sunset rays, tourists and local crowds thicken in Pantai Cenang. It’s one of the easiest places on the island to enjoy a great dinner without overthinking it.
Out of the many options, we kept finding ourselves going back to Yasmin Express. I love the Middle Eastern food over here.
As you walk along Cenang Street, you’ll notice plenty of seafood restaurants serving Malay-style dishes, alongside a great mix of Thai and Indian restaurants. But I don’t recommend Indian food (Royale Indian Restaurant) in this area. Cenang Plaza mall also serves you many good restaurant options like Mexican restaurant, sushi and coffee places.
Smoky satay skewers, flavourful Char kway teow, Various types of dumplings and crisp roti, in Sandy Beach Restaurant you will find a lot of familiar international dishes perfect with a chilled drink in hand. This spot is casual, bustling, and deeply local. If you’re staying in the Cenang Beach area, these restaurants are perfect to pair with evening beach walks and sunsets.
Location: Jalan Pantai Chenang
Hidden Restaurant – Cenang Beach
True to its name, Hidden Restaurant is tucked away from the main street and feels like a little discovery of its own. It’s a short walk from Cenang Beach, but once you arrive, the setting feels calm, pretty, and worth the effort. I recommend making a reservation beforehand.
The menu focuses on fusion cuisine, and it’s a good place to try the chef’s specials. They serve a mix of seafood, vegetable and chicken pizzas, along with favourites like fish and chips and a generous seafood platter. Their drinks are popular too, especially the Mexican beer and the classic Sex on the Beach cocktail.
What really makes this place special is the experience. It’s perfect if you want to sit back with a drink in your hand and enjoy the fire shows performed by their talented team right on the beach. When we visited, my son was completely amazed by the fire show—and he absolutely loved the pizza.
Location: 2461, Jalan Pantai Tengah, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia
The Cliff Langkawi
Located a little off the interior roads near Underwater World, The Cliff Langkawi is perched high above the sea and is truly known for its view. This is one of those places where the setting does most of the talking. Sunset dinners here feel cinematic, with the ocean stretching endlessly in front of you and the sky slowly changing colours.
The location alone draws people in, and the service is polite and welcoming. While the menu looks tempting, the food didn’t quite stand out for us, especially considering the prices. We ordered the herb-crusted barramundi fish fillet, the stone-grilled chicken with mint sauce, and the Peri Peri (Perchick) chicken served with curry and rice. Unfortunately, some of the dishes felt a bit underwhelming.
But we still enjoyed the evening overall. Sitting there with the ocean breeze and watching the sunset made it a pleasant experience. If you’re visiting, this might be a better spot to enjoy drinks with a view, soak in the atmosphere, and let the scenery do the rest.
Location: Lot 63 & 40, Cenang, Mukim Kedawang, Lebuh Pantai, 07000 Pulau Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia

Rockefellers
We used to go to this restaurant every time when we wanted delicious Indian food along with refreshing drinks. We loved the live band here. They bring a nice atmosphere to life. The restaurant has a pool table so we always played there for a minimum amount per game, sipping our drinks and competing.
When you walk into this bar and restaurant it feels like some other worldly lively place. The interior decoration and the standing tables outside at the entrance gives it a dramatic look. Stylish and social, Rockafellers is popular for both food and nightlife.
The restaurant serves international cuisine but they serve very good Indian food.
This place is best for nightlife lovers. Because they have live bands in the evenings and the size of the Bar is pretty long.
Red Tomato – Vegan Food That Impresses
I had one of the most delicious eggplant dishes here, loaded with dry fruits. That’s the kind of food Red Tomato does well. Even if you’re not vegan, you’ll probably end up loving this place.
Yes, Red Tomato in Cenang is one of the Vegan restaurants in Langkawi that will serve simple, nutritious, and cheerful food for your palate. Red Tomato has a relaxed, café-style vibe and focuses on vegan and vegetarian food. Their vegan pizzas, plant-based burgers, and fresh juices are popular for a reason. It’s a great option if you’re staying around Cenang, watching your budget, or just want to eat something clean and satisfying.
If you’re looking for vegan, gluten-free food, or all-day breakfast, this is definitely your spot. Whether you’re craving pasta or pizza—gluten-free or not—you’ll find plenty of choices, and you’ll leave feeling like you ate well without overspending.
The ambience is very local and easygoing. The décor feels simple and untouched, like it was set up once and left as is. Inside, there’s a small elevated area with musical instruments, so I get the feeling they host live music occasionally. One charming detail you can’t miss is there are a few resident cats who casually wander over and sometimes sit near your table.
Seating-wise, the place is quite spacious. There are regular tables, sofa seating, and enough room to accommodate families and larger groups, including kids. You can choose between indoor and outdoor seating, depending on the weather and your mood. Overall, it’s a comfortable, simple place where good food comes first.
Location: No. 5 Casa Fina, Jalan Pantai Cenang, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia
Wednesday Night Market in Kuah
The Night Market in Kuah where you taste Langkawi’s most local dishes. Here, you can savour everything from nasi lemak to laksa, absorb the vibrant local culture, and try traditional desserts while watching locals shop, chat and savour their island favourites. It’s messy, magical, and very authentic.
To enjoy the market properly you should arrive early by 5:45 pm when they are only setting it up and slowly walk around all the stalls to learn about their dishes and enjoy the food right there.
Some Malaysians I knew didn’t cook on that day and either parcelled or ate their dinner at the market. It’s a great local market, especially for local food and checking out the shops is so fun.
Langkawi Night market is a brilliant place to taste different Malaysian food. Check out this video to understand what to expect from the night market langkawi.
Some must eat over here are Nasi lemak, Murtabak, ayam percik, laksa, kuih-muih and peanut pancake (local desserts).
Location: Lencongan Putra 3, Kuah, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia
Enjoy Japanese Cuisine in Langkawi
Even though Langkawi is a small island you will not have a shortage of different cuisine restaurants. Here you will find some great Japanese restaurants to taste authentic Japanese cuisine.
Koku Japanese Restaurant
Located at the Riyaz Lavanya Langkawi resort of understated elegance, Koku Japanese Restaurant is a favorite among long-stay travelers and resort guests looking for authenticity. The ambience is calm and refined, perfect for a relaxed dinner after a beach-heavy day. Koku Japanese Restaurant, a hidden gem where the ambience shifts to soft lighting and precise flavours. The sushi and sashimi here are delicate yet bold, ideal for those who crave authenticity with elegance. Too bad it’s closed at the time of writing this blog.
Unkaizan Japanese – Cenang
Modern, peaceful, and popular with tourists, Unkaizan brings Japanese comfort food to you. If you want a break from Malaysian cuisine, you must try food over here, the atmosphere and the Japanese style low seating are very calming. The dishes they serve look very normal, not trying very hard to impress you, but the taste works charm. We used to come here for dinner and loved their chicken fried rice, grilled salmon and chicken preparations.
Chuan Bar Izakaya – Japanese Fusion
This is a very delicious and unique Japanese fusion restaurant with an Izakaya bar atmosphere. The Japanese music lighting and decor sets the mood. The service is impressive. Because this was closer to our house in Langkawi, we used to come here often. Everything we ordered was delicious and well-presented. I highly recommend some of the skewer variations, the ramen,
and the fish dishes.
Kuah Town Seafood
Kuah Town Seafood is a nice, simple and small restaurant with air conditioning in Kuah town. Most budget restaurants you will see have open sides but this one is a closed restaurant. It’s one of the oldest restaurants with delicious seafood. You can expect many varieties of seafood and fish options here. But since it’s almost full most of the time, getting your order takes time.
Location: 33 persiaran dayang pekan rabu Kuah, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia
Krua Thai
Krua Thai is one of the roadside restaurants, whenever you pass by the road you feel like I would one day visit and see what they serve, once we had a chance to go here and we ordered some Thai curry and rice with noodles and chicken preparation and they tasted good, once tried I think this is a good place to try Thai and Malaysian food. This restaurant will be on budget. Under 50 rm.
Location: Jalan Padang Matsirat, Kampung Pokok Asam, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia
Thai House Thai Seafood
One evening while strolling in Kuah we ended up coming to Thai House Thai Seafood. If you’re in Kuah and craving Thai-style seafood, this is your place. This is one of the local go-to spots to check out.
They serve authentic Thai dishes like Phad Pet Fish, seafood kengsom, deep-fried squid, kailan ikan masin and foo yong omelette, classic flavours that give a genuine taste of Thai cuisine with a Malaysian twist.
The portions are generally reasonable, compared to other seafood places in Langkawi, so it’s a popular choice for a laid-back lunch or dinner after exploring town.
This restaurant is not very fancy or pricey, but it will serve you without fuss and in a low budget you can have some good food.
The Fat Frog
The fat frog is another vegetarian and vegan place you will find in Langkawi. They have lovely seating arrangements including small and big tables for groups. The restaurant has a nice bar, and has an open lawn in front. Also, they have a bit of a vegetable garden which they love to show you if you are interested. We loved their pasta, starters and drinks. And is a long-time favorite with expats and tourists.
What to eat: Western comfort food, desserts.
Cuisine: Western
Best for: Vegetarians.

Restaurants in Kuah Town
Co B Diem Langkawi
Co B Diem Langkawi has been one of our favorite places for breakfast since it opened, mainly because of its design that works so well for both kids and adults. There was a time I visited without my son, and just looking at the spiral slide inside the restaurant made me think of him the whole time. On our recent visits, they added sensory play games, which kept him busy along with the slide and wall activities near the outdoor seating. It’s one of those places where parents can sit and enjoy their meal while the kids stay engaged. We love the food here, often served with kimchi and a red mayonnaise-style sauce that adds a nice touch. They offer fresh juices, hot and cold coffees, small and large breakfast sets, and many other options. The lattes are some of the nicest we’ve had, and the food is flavorful and filling. Service was smooth, and we never had to wait long for our order. The staff are helpful, and veggie or vegan options can be arranged if you ask to adjust ingredients, including oat milk for drinks. I recommend trying the black sesame latte if you don’t usually go for coffee. It feels modern, family friendly, and well thought out. They even have an interactive ordering system where you place your order through your phone, and it works without any hassle.
Umbut Langkawi
Umbut Langkawi quickly became one of our favorite hidden gems on the island. It’s a local favourite, and once you visit, you understand why. The restaurant sits on a hill with wide panoramic views, and the setting alone makes the meal feel special. While Langkawi has many seaside restaurants, this one gives you a different perspective. You still get a view, but with more space and calm around you.
We enjoyed several meals here. Our five-year-old son surprised us by falling in love with their crispy chicken salad. I had never ordered a salad for him before, but he finished it without a fuss. That alone made the dish memorable for me. The food they present is with care, and you can see the thoughtful garnishing into each plate. You’ll also find traditional Malaysian dishes on the menu if you want something local.
One evening, I ordered the sambal shrimp pasta and asked for it medium spicy. The flavour was rich and satisfying. I only wished the shrimp shells had been removed, as it would have made the dish easier to enjoy. I was hungry and ready to eat, and peeling shrimp slowed me down. Also, a small lesson learned: sambal pasta and light-colored dresses do not go well together. The red sauce has a mind of its own.
The aglio olio pasta with crispy chicken was another highlight. I even stole the mushrooms from my husband’s plate because they tasted fresh and different from my dish. Every meal felt comforting yet interesting.
The prices are moderate, and there are healthy options on the menu. You’ll find several types of burgers, five or six pasta choices, sandwiches, fries, and many non-alcoholic drinks. It works well for a romantic dinner or a late lunch with a view. It’s also great for families. There’s a small play area for kids, so parents can sit back and enjoy their meal while the little ones stay entertained.
Umbut feels peaceful, welcoming, and worth returning to.
Hadramawt Kuah Restaurant
A hidden gem for Middle Eastern flavors. It’s not a very fancy restaurant, a simple restaurant in Kuah, where you try some different tastes of the world. If you like to eat Yemen style dishes you can come here. I always used to order and also eat at the restaurant. Their Mandi rice served with chicken and tomato chutney was my favourite. I loved Kunafa here too.
Paradise Seafood Restaurant
Round tables covered with red table cloth, the Paradise Seafood welcomes you with open heart, well at least the staff does. They make the food according to our liking and they have a variety of seafood in the menu which is very pleasing, every dish they serve has a distinct taste and look. Paradise Seafood Restaurant is one of those local seafood spots in Kuah that tends to divide opinion, but many visitors appreciate it for its classic Asian seafood dishes and relaxed, open-air setting.
I love the variety of stir-fried and fresh seafood options from lemon chicken and crab bean curd to squid with spring onion and ginger and feel the flavours are tasty and well worth trying, especially if you’re exploring the food scene after a hard working day. Sometimes people get confused over portions and pricing if you’re not familiar with how seafood is weighed and charged, so it’s worth asking about prices upfront before ordering. Overall, Paradise Seafood offers a genuine, local dining experience. If you love seafood and want to try something traditional while in Langkawi then you must visit this place. Which is bustling with locals and loud in the evenings in the best way.
Cuisine: Chinese seafood
Best for: Families and seafood lovers in Kuah.
Location: No 188 Pusat Dagangan Kelana Mas Kuah, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia

Arts Café – Kuah
As the name suggests, this cozy little restaurant looks like a charming Art Gallery. The walls are filled with beautiful artwork, and the whole place feels creative yet relaxed. We really enjoyed our time here. It’s the kind of spot where you can sink into your chair, take a deep breath, and slowly sip a really good cup of coffee.
The portions are generous—definitely enough for one person—and the pricing feels fair for what you get. If you’re craving a hearty Western meal and just want to unwind, this is a solid choice. The staff are friendly and happy to guide you through the menu, even recommending some local-style drinks that look more like dessert than coffee.
It’s a lovely place to stop by if you’re already in the area, though not necessarily somewhere you’d drive across town just for. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so you can come here any time of the day.
We ordered a drink called the Superstar, and it was packed with flavour. The chicken sandwich was comforting and satisfying. The Bolognese pasta was equally delightful and full of rich flavour.

Pizza Hills
You must try pizza at Pizza Hills at least once when you are in Langkawi. The warm welcome from the staff and the chef’s choice pizza make every visit memorable, and each time we dined here, the pizza was full of flavor and made with care. The location can be tricky to reach, but once you arrive, it feels worth the effort. We prefer Pizza Hills over Pizza Hut or any other place. Away from the hustle and bustle of Kuah town, it sits on a hill far from the main road, and the drive there may make you feel like you are heading into the forest. Surrounded by greenery, this small restaurant feels like a hidden escape. There is no menu; the chef comes to your table, asks about your preferences, allergies, and whether you want vegetarian or non-vegetarian options, then prepares something just for you. When the pizza arrives, it looks beautiful and tastes just as good. You can pair it with wine, beer, or soft drinks. It feels personal, welcoming, and worth the journey.

Namgrill Cafe
We had dinner here on a weekend, and it’s best to come early if you want a table because the place fills up fast. It’s a nice restaurant for Western dishes at a moderate price in Langkawi. Since we visited on a weekend, it was packed and we had to wait for a table, but the service made up for it. The staff were attentive and kept things moving. The food tasted good overall, though the sauce served with the chicken and pasta had a bit too much black pepper for our liking. If they reduced the pepper slightly, it would suit more palates. Aside from that, the flavors were enjoyable and the drinks were well balanced. The vibe feels like a family dinner out under the stars, relaxed and welcoming. There is plenty of free parking available, which makes it convenient. It’s also kid-friendly, with open space for children to move around and play, and wheelchair accessible since you can park close to the restaurant without needing to climb steps.
Fisherman’s Wharf Kuah
After spending time in Kuah Town and stopping by the huge eagle statue, heading over to Fisherman’s Wharf feels like the perfect next step. This marina has a lively energy. Boats and yachts dock here throughout the day, and you’ll see people arriving with luggage, heading out to nearby islands, or simply enjoying the waterfront scene. There’s always something happening, yet it still feels relaxed.

Fisherman’s Wharf is also a great place for food and drinks. One of our regular spots was Charlie’s Bar, where we often went for drinks and pizzas. Sitting there in the evening, watching the marina light up and the sun slowly set over the water, became one of our favorite memories of Langkawi.

We also enjoyed going to Jake’s Charbroil Steaks for their famous charbroiled chicken steak, served with baked potatoes and vegetables. It’s hearty, comforting food, and always satisfying.

Beyond these, the marina area has several other options like Hachi Gatsu Izakaya at Royal Langkawi Yacht Club, small boutiques, a spa – Black Pearl Spa & Reflexology, Hugo’s Sunset Bar, and Tayfun’s Kitchen at Poseidon (Poolside) inside the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club. Some of these places may require membership or booking through the yacht club, but even walking around the marina is enjoyable. Fisherman’s Wharf is the kind of place where you can sip a drink, watch the boats, and feel like you’re part of island life for a while.
Enjoy the Luxury vibes & Culture
Four Seasons – Ikan-Ikan
Dining at Ikan-Ikan feels like stepping into a refined Malay home by the sea. Four Seasons – Ikan-Ikan was my favorite restaurant during our three-night stay at Four Seasons Langkawi. We tried all the restaurants at the resort, but this one stood out for its food and service. The dishes were full of flavor, and I loved every fish preparation we ordered. From the moment you walk in, the space makes you feel at ease. The open-air setting with shaded seating, beautiful décor, and black chairs set against the ocean create a stunning backdrop, especially at sunset. On one visit, our son enjoyed watching satay being prepared in a small live kitchen near our table, and he loved the taste just as much as the experience. They also offer a thoughtful kids’ menu, which makes dining here comfortable for families.

Kelapa Grill
Kelapa Grill – Four Seasons Langkawi is one of those places where time slows down and you feel the relaxed lunch time. Set along a private stretch of beach with views of the Andaman Sea, the restaurant feels open and connected to nature. The best time to enjoy this spot, in my experience, is after taking a dip in the swimming pool in the afternoon. You walk in relaxed and ready for a good meal. During our stay at Four Seasons, this became a favorite for laid-back lunches. I always loved their mozzarella cheese salad; it was fresh, light, and full of flavor. The grilled seafood and meats are also worth trying, prepared with care and served fresh. The beach is clean, breezy, and beautiful, and the whole environment feels polished and well managed. Since this is part of a private beach, it’s recommended to reserve before coming. The car park is located farther away, and a buggy brings you to the restaurant, which adds to the sense of exclusivity. The service and setting feel five-star, but everything comes at a matching price. Even a simple high tea for two, with one beverage and one dessert each, can bring the bill close to 400 ringgit. If that price range feels uncomfortable, it may affect how much you enjoy the experience. For those prepared for it, the peace, the setting, and the service make it a memorable place to spend a slow afternoon by the sea.

Rhu Bar
Located in one of the most beautiful corners of the Four Seasons Resort, Rhu Bar overlooks the stunning Tanjung Rhu beach, known for its calm waters and limestone islets in the distance. The setting feels private and open at the same time, with wooden decks, plush beach chairs, and uninterrupted sea views. It’s the kind of place where you settle in for one drink and end up staying for the sunset. The golden light reflecting off the water creates a peaceful mood that stays with you long after you leave. The bartender is skilled and enjoys crafting drinks based on your preferences, whether you want something citrusy, tropical, or bold. They also serve light bites and snacks that pair well with the cocktails, making it easy to turn sunset drinks into a relaxed evening. We often came here with our son, who would stay busy playing in the sand nearby, and that allowed us to enjoy our time without needing to leave him with a babysitter. The atmosphere feels refined yet comfortable, and while prices reflect the luxury setting, the service, views, and overall experience make it a memorable stop during your stay.

Paloh Restaurant & Bar at Temple Tree
I loved the surroundings so much that I would love to go there and stay in the hotel to have a complete colonial feel of the place with the gardens. Paloh Restaurant & Bar at Temple Tree hotel is a refined dining restaurant with Colonial charms. If you love relaxed seating and dining in heritage buildings with antique decorations in the lush tropical garden surroundings, this is your place to be. The restaurant offers Asian-Western fusion dishes, blended local flavors with classic Western influences in a thoughtful way. You can expect dishes that combine familiar comfort with regional ingredients.
Westin – Seasonal Tastes
Seasonal Tastes at The Westin Langkawi is one of those restaurants that works beautifully from morning to night. Breakfast here is a generous spread, with live cooking stations, fresh tropical fruits, pastries, eggs made to order, and a mix of Western and Asian options that suit every kind of traveler. It’s a relaxed way to begin the day, especially if you’re staying at the resort and want a filling meal before heading out to explore. In the evening, the restaurant transforms into a warm dinner space with themed buffets and a wide variety of international dishes. We visited for dinner and were especially impressed by the Indian and Malaysian cuisine on offer. The flavors felt authentic and comforting, with rich curries, fragrant rice, and well-prepared local specialties. The setting overlooks the sea, which adds to the experience, and the service reflects the polished hospitality you expect from Westin. It’s a dependable choice whether you’re starting your day with a hearty breakfast or sitting down for a relaxed dinner.
The Gulai House – The Datai Langkawi
The Gulai House – The Datai Langkawi is one of the most atmospheric dining experiences on the island. Tucked deep within the rainforest of The Datai resort, the restaurant feels like a hidden wooden kampung house surrounded by tall trees and the sounds of nature. The setting alone makes the meal special. We went over here to celebrate our marriage anniversary and enjoyed the Indian and Malaysian dishes made with great skills and presented very nicely with rich gulai curries, fragrant biryanis, tender rendang, and freshly baked breads. Nature lovers will appreciate the peaceful surroundings and the sense of dining in the middle of the forest.
L’Orangerie, The St. Regis Langkawi
L’Orangerie – The St. Regis Langkawi is an upscale, signature all-day dining restaurant at The St. Regis, overlooking the calm waters near Kuah. We chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner, and it turned into one of the most memorable evenings for me. When you enter the lobby of the St. Regis and walk towards this restaurant, you will be amazed by the size of the lobby and this restaurant. The space feels bright and elegant, decorated with high quality decoratives and their art works on the wall were all magnificent and alluring. The high ceilings and large windows that open up to sea views, it has a refined relaxed setting that works for both breakfast and dinner.
In the evening, the menu focuses on international cuisine with beautifully plated seafood, quality meats, and crafted desserts. Everything felt well prepared and thoughtfully presented. The staff took great care of us throughout the dinner, and at the end they surprised me with a small chocolate mousse cake and even sang for me. It was a simple gesture, but it made the night feel personal and warm.
If you love breakfast with the sea views, graceful settings, and attentive service, this is your restaurant ideal for celebrations or a special dining experience in Langkawi.
The Beach Grill – Ritz-Carlton Langkawi
Sits right along a quiet stretch of beach, offering a sophisticated yet relaxed setting. The open design allows you to enjoy sea views while dining, which makes sunset dinners feel memorable. We came here for lunch once and loved the relaxed settings with a little warm breeze. The menu highlights grilled seafood and premium steaks, cooked over charcoal and served with thoughtful sides. Fresh lobster, grilled prawns, and tender beef cuts are among the popular choices. The service reflects the Ritz-Carlton standard, attentive and welcoming. It’s a great choice for honeymooners, special occasions, or guests staying at the resort who want a beachfront fine dining experience without leaving the property.
Langkawi Parade Mall Food Court
Langkawi Parade Mall – Food Court is another practical dining stop in Kuah town, especially if you’re spending time shopping or running errands nearby. The mall is popular with locals, so the food court has a more everyday Malaysian feel. You’ll find stalls serving fried rice, noodles, laksa, chicken rice, roti canai, and simple Western bites. It’s not a place you dress up for, but it’s comfortable, air-conditioned, and easy on the wallet. If you’re staying in Kuah and want a quick lunch without driving far, this food court does the job. It’s also helpful for families, since everyone can pick what they like and sit together.
Langkawi Fair Mall – Food Court
Langkawi Fair Mall – Food Court is one of the easiest places to grab a simple, affordable meal in Kuah town. Located close to the jetty area and many duty-free shops, it’s convenient if you’re spending the day shopping or sorting out ferry tickets. The food court has a mix of local Malaysian stalls and fast food counters, so you can find nasi lemak, fried rice, noodle soups, and basic Western options all in one place. It’s not fancy, but it’s practical and budget friendly. If you’re traveling with family or a group who all want different things, this spot makes life easy..
Haroo Story – Korean Restaurant is a warm and modern space that feels like a small slice of Seoul in Langkawi. Located around the Cenang area, it’s a great option if you’re staying near the beach and want a break from Malaysian or Western food. Their bibimbap comes in a hot stone bowl with fresh vegetables and meat, and the Korean BBQ sets are popular with groups. The flavors feel authentic, and the portions are filling. It’s a nice change when you’re craving something different after days of seafood and local dishes.
Secret Recipe is a familiar name across Malaysia, and the Kuah outlet is a reliable stop for coffee, cakes, and casual meals. It’s centrally located, making it convenient if you’re running errands or shopping in town. Their cheesecakes are the highlight, along with simple pasta dishes and rice meals. It’s not a destination restaurant, but it’s dependable when you want a quick bite, a slice of cake, or a comfortable café setting with air conditioning.
South Indian Flavours for Indian cuisine lovers
You can take out an Indian from India but you can not take out India from an Indian. South Indian food is one of the most popular and close to our nations food we get outside India. Shoutout with thanks to our Malayalam and south Indian communities who have built a nice platform for people like us to still enjoy something close to our taste in foreign countries.
These are the two favourite Indian Restaurants
- Raja Rani –
- & Amma Chi – South Indian Food –
Where we used to go every day. Either for breakfast or lunch. Both the places serve very delicious and simple south indian food and they also have a small buffet for the food non vegetarians and vegetarian counters. When our parents visited us, we came here and they loved their vegetarian food a lot. Also their buffet is small in number of the chefing dishes but the varieties of food are more. They also keep Malaysian Samble, rice, and nasi lemak and nasi goreng with them. You can enjoy a full meal at a very low cost and satisfaction level is 100 percent.
Tangjung Rhu Beach eating places
Scarborough Restaurant
Scarborough restaurant is the best if you’re in the area and want a meal with a view. You can enjoy the sunset over here. Or after a long morning exploring the island you can enjoy evening drinks at the beach. The beach setting and laid-back atmosphere make it a nice stop. It overlooks Tanjung Rhu Beach, and the view alone feels worthy. You can even walk down and dip into the water while waiting for your meal, which makes the whole experience feel relaxed and easy. You can savour the Scarborough fish and chips, a small pan-fried fish with batter and the skin left on, sizzling hot Chicken satay and fries with chilled Tiger beer or fresh coconut water to help balance things out, and nothing beats sitting there with that ocean view in front of you. The staff are kind and welcoming, and parking can be easy depending on the time of day. The food is mostly fried food with salad and veggies, so if today you feel like having fried and treat yourself with a meal with a view this is your place. For Indians missing Indian Samosa’s must come here, they serve the best Samosa in the island.
Final Thoughts
When you visit a new place, one of the first questions is always, “Where should we eat?” Food shapes your whole experience. Sometimes eating at a small local stall feels more special than dining in a polished five-star restaurant. Both have their place, but local spots give you a real taste of the island.
Langkawi’s culinary landscape is filled with the simplicity of street stalls, elegance of fine dining overlooking turquoise waters and Malay chilli heat, Japanese precision, Thai tanginess, Middle Eastern warmth, and vegan creativity.
After one year in Langkawi, I’ve learned that Malaysian food is worth conquering your taste buds, be it from night markets or five-star resorts, Langkawi feeds every mood and every traveler. Come hungry, stay curious, and let the island surprise you—one meal at a time.
