As long as kids attend school, moms are okay as kids’ activity palettes are full. Where as summer put us through many innovations to get our kids occupied. I am sharing some of my hacks to keep my four-year-old son busy, giving me some time for myself.

A quick tip: Make a list of things your kids love to do. And you can follow that during the summer break. Also, make a new list that will give them new perspectives and ideas to finish that game.

10 summer activities for 4-year-olds

1. Pattern games

Homeschooling keeps Aanick occupied with some activities. We make a lot of letter puzzles, numbers, patterns, and drawing something on paper alone.

2. Make a sand tub or a sensory sand bin

We brought some sand and made a sand pit at home, where my son played with his construction vehicle toys.

3. Crafting with colour paper

Cut and paste shapes and numbers in order, and make a garden by cutting colour paper.

4. Play dough activity

My son loves play dough activities. Cars and animal rescue games, tracing the letters and numbers with clay is one game he likes a lot.

5. Domino games

We build some other shapes and knock them down. The most fun comes to Aanick when he helps bring the dominos on his dump truck, just like the construction site.

6. Make popsicles at home

Here summer comes, and we start making popsicles, led mainly by kids. Aanick helps his father or me to make a popsicle. But once put in the freezer, he checks at least ten times if it’s ready or not.

7. Water gun painting

Use some edible colours and put them in the water gun. Let the kid spray and paint.

8. Water gun fight with plants

Yes, water gun fight. Tell the kid to help you water the plant by spraying water on the plants.

9. Superhero role play:

Most of the time, we become superheroes wearing towel capes. Aanick(my son) loves Spiderman so often he becomes Spiderman. My husband becomes Batman. Weared combination right!

10. Make an ocean or a fishing sensory bin:

We fill up a small tub with water, and Aanick plays with his submarines, cars or any toy he likes. He uses his imagination to play in the water. Also uses his toys to fish it.
